Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Review

Recently I invested in a few of Jeffree Star’s liquid lipsticks, and in light of all the recent drama, it’s luckily all quite on topic! But I’m not here for the drama, I’m just here for the pretty colours.

Since the Velour Liquid Lipsticks always seem to be out of stock, I’ve had to grab them as I can, which was two at a time. At $18 each, they’re not too cheap, plus $10.95 packaging each time, then plus £11 customs charge once they make it to the UK, it would definitely be a better idea to order them all in one, but I do not have the self control for that! But onto the colours.IMG_1036

The first to arrive were Unicorn Blood and Abused. They arrived pretty quick, considering they came from California, just under two weeks. Magic. I adore the deep red of Unicorn Blood, it’s a colour that I find quite adjustable, I can have it as bright or dark as I want, just by applying more or less. The brush is tapered, unlike usual liquid lipsticks or glosses, giving a shape that fits your lip exactly and giving you a little edge for precision.

Unicorn Blood, and something interesting on the floor.

Abused was a riskier colour I bought. As it’s a dark colour, I was hoping it’d suit me. On trying it on, I liked it, and so did Joe and my friend, however my entire family and my manager disapproved. Yes, my manager has an opinion on my make-up purchases. Weird, I know. I find that this colour needs quite warm eye makeup to contrast the cold to avoid looking too gothic, my emo phase needs to stay ended!

I promise I’m not going back to my emo phase.

In my next delivery were two more…natural…colours. Celebrity Skin and Androgyny. Celebrity Skin is the colour I’d heard the most about, so I was super super excited when this restocked and I just had to have it. I set an alarm and everything. It’s a gorgeous nude colour once it’s dried down, however it was a slightly different colour while still wet, which was concerning on the first application!

My nan preferred this one to Abused apparently.

I also bought Androgyny, which is definitely my favourite colour. It’s a dusty pink and it’s the only lipstick that I find fully dries down, making it the most comfortable colour to wear.

Best lipstick ever.

Overall I’d give these lipsticks a solid 9/10, great colours, easy to apply, long lasting, just don’t quiiiiite dry down like I’d hoped.
