So last Sunday I was idly trying to pick out my clothes for the day when I found myself throwing the mother of all strops. None of my clothes seemed to fit me anymore! Everything was baggy, unflattering and just too big. So to end my strop asap, Joe decided we were going shopping. The boy knows what to do.
I managed to buy everything in a size 10 and everything fitted me, what a result. What is this luck that has been bestowed upon me? I went in with one main mission, to replace all of my jeans for ones that don’t have a major gap in the back, a baggy crotch and flappy ankles. It sounds so sexy. As luck would have it, I managed to find all the different colours I needed in skinny or super skinny, something I know actually fits. I picked up some leather look jeans, a pair I didn’t expect to be able to replace, and I fell in love, I felt like Sandy at the end of Grease, sassy and shiny.
I also found some dungarees. Amazing. I haven’t worn them since I was about 5, but that is definitely something I can get back into. As long as it means I still get to have daily naps. I wore them to a gig and the big pocket is amazing for holding plastic cups. Always here for alcohol consumption tips. To go with this I got a couple of crop tops, because I’m totally edgy like that, but I’ve already got some long sleeve tops at home for when the weather turns all cosy and autumnal.
I picked up a beaut bomber jacket after seeing about a thousand different ones. I just love the different colours because it will just go with so much. Plus I’ve moved on from being grunge and goth and now apparently I like pink and flowers. So what better than pink flowers?? Plus this goes PERFECTLY with my star purchase of the day…
I found this dress and absolutely had to have it. It was also available in black, but I thought “well I’m going girly so I might as well go the whole way” and picked it up. I love the whole collar trend at the moment and this seemed a super elegant way to wear it. As soon as I saw it I knew that it’d be perfect for the Blogger’s Festival I’m going to in September. At least I have a rehearsed line for what to tell Mum I’ll wear it for.
I also picked up another couple of bits from River Island (I spent way too much money). The shirt I loved and it looked perfect for work, hopefully my manager might approve for once. The body I saw on Instagram by a blogger (SGX_, who’s fashion sense is absolute goals) and knew it was destiny. I thought it was a top originally, but I definitely prefer it as a body. The shape is so flattering and it fits so well, it was love at first sight.
This was also another blogger spot, (the gorgeous Leanne Lim-Walker) these bloggers know what they’re talking about. Another body, I loved the super intricate detailing and half-mesh detail, it’s classy and covered up but still super sexy and I adore it. I’m generally loving Ann Summer’s classy vibe that they’ve got going on, I would definitely wear their clothes everyday. (Maybe out of the office.)
Overall this is probably the most successful shopping spree I’ve ever had (and maybe the most reckless) and as an added bonus that Joe was super proud of, I didn’t spend forever in the changing rooms – a total of 0 minutes – and I didn’t step foot in a single make-up shop. Progress is being made.
