My Blogger’s Festival Experience

This Saturday was Scarlett London’s Blogger’s Festival, a great opportunity to meet other bloggers and meet brands to try out their products and potentially work with in future. It was held in the stunning Conrad St James London Hotel boasting food and drink and a couple of hundred bloggers chatting away.

Unfortunately my shyness got the better of me, so I didn’t go up to anyone saying “hey, I know you from Twitter!” when I know that I should have, but oh well, it meant I had more time to explore brands and drink all that Buck’s Fizz. I got to meet some amazing brands and chat with them, some I’d heard of, some that I hadn’t, which was a great way to network. Note to self: get business cards next time.

At this stall I was asked what hair type I have for example, dry or frizzy? It’s dry AND frizzy actually. So the lovely lady gave me a sample of their Brazilian Keratin hair oil and explained to me how to use it and oh my GOD it’s incredible. My nothingy waves became pretty defined curls with some shine to them, I’ve instantly fallen in love and I’ve only used it once. The smell is incredible too. It’s quite a masculine smell, it reminds me of Joe’s aftershave, which luckily I’m a big fan of. An absolute 10/10.

Exuviance

From Exuviance I got the new Retexturing Treatment which will rid your arms and legs of dry, flaky skin and an uneven tone. It’s a thicker texture than I thought it would be, but this means a little goes a long way. (This will not stop me from slathering myself in it). After just two uses I’ve noticed my skin is softer and smoother and the skin tone of my arms isn’t as red. I’ll definitely continue to use and see what happens.

Heaven by Deborah Mitchell

I was lusting after so much at this stall. They have gorgeously modern packaging and some very exclusive items. I was lucky enough to be given a sample of their Silk Skin BeeBee Cream in English Rose. According to the lady, this can be used as both a base and primer as it can stop all the bad toxins getting into your skin. Bonus. I’ve never tried a BB cream before as I’ve always loved high coverage, but this is so subtle yet so effective, that I can easily use it just on its own for a sort-of-no-makeup day. It’s quite fragrant, smelling of beeswax (which makes sense since it’s called BeeBee cream) in a kind of Burt’s Bees kind of way. I’d love it if it didn’t remind me of a terrible job I had once working in a toiletries section of a horrific department store. Shudder. But I’ll power through.

7th Heaven

I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for a 7th Heaven mask as they’re just so easy and convenient, especially the peel-off ones. The height of easy. Here I talked about multi-masking and the benefits of it, while being handed a whole range of masks to try. Including peel-offs. Yes. To try I have some moisturising masks, deep cleansing masks and clarifying masks, all to target different areas. My only issue with multi-masking with sachet masks is what do you do with the rest of the mask? How long will it last? Will it just be a waste of mask? I suppose multi-masking would be easier with a pot of mask such as the L’Oreal Pure Clay mask range, as you can just put the lid on again…

Beverly Hills Formula

Now this was an interesting and slightly daunting product. Black toothpaste. Interesting. The charcoal will apparently absorb all stains, while still actually tasting of mint, so I thought I’d give it a go. The taste is pretty pleasant, as unpleasant as it definitely looks. It doesn’t turn your whole mouth black either, it just goes a sort of silvery grey, which isn’t too bad I guess. I haven’t noticed a difference yet, but I guess it’s early days. I was also given a gold toothpaste. Yes, a toothpaste with bits of gold in it. Antibacterial gold to give you a super healthy set of teeth and gums.

Friction Free Shaving

I’d seen this before but I’d never looked into it. I definitely should have. For such a small price a month, you can get the best shaving experience possible. Yes, that’s right, a new blade every week, delivered to your door every month. What could be better? I am guilty of forgetting to buy new shaver heads so I’ll just keep using the last one til I remember, which is kinda gross and can also get pretty expensive, even if you buy reusable ones. That’s where this masterpiece comes to play. You can buy Faye, Frankie or Samantha at £3, £5 and £7, depending on how many blades per head you prefer. I was given Frankie, who has three blades, which is enough for me, and an incredible price. And it just LOOKS PRETTY. Friction Free Shaving will also soon be coming out with a shaving cream too, which is just a dream. Will most definitely be subscribing.

Lastly is this absolute beauty. Not only was their stall absolutely stunning, they also had some amazing pieces on display. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few pieces as I had a slot to have a mini-photoshoot with them. I chose the daisy items as they were so intricate and light while also being noticeable. They are silver with 18ct gold in the centre at such an amazing price. All three items, the studs, bracelet and anklet were priced individually at under £10. Hell yes!

Overall, my shyness definitely got the best of me, and a lot of people came in twos or group so maybe that’s the trick. Oh well, my next event is the Blogosphere Christmas Market that a lot of my GRLPOWR girls will be at. No walking around quietly then, I won’t be able to get a word in edgeways.

Also, check out my new header, made for me by the gorgeous and lovely Emma from Emma Louise Martin Graphic Design. She’s a graphic design student also doing freelance work. You can check out her other stuff here emmalouisemartingraphicdesign.tumblr.com, including all the design for Southampton Pride. You go girl!
