Now I know we’re not perfect, but I am TERRIBLE at cleaning my make-up brushes. I’ve constantly fought with different ways to make it easier for me, settling for the last year or so with a spray cleaner, spray it on dry brushes and wipe the brushes on a cloth. But no.1 that takes forEVER and doesn’t get them incredibly clean and no.2, I’ve broken about three brushes doing it.
So I thought NO MORE. Since I got my Zoeva Brush Set, I’ve treated them as if they were my children, so they deserve the best care. Because let’s face it, they were a bit of an investment, I need them to last. So while browsing beauty bay, I found this bad boy. A brush cleaning mat from Sigma.
I got these brushes for Christmas and got the cleaning mat at the end of January, so you can imagine the kind of state these brushes were in by the time I cleaned them. If that’s not a test, I don’t know what is.
It has six sections on it, three for face brushes, three for eyes. Each side has a wash, rise and refine section to get your brushes PRISTINE. It fits nicely in your sink with suction cups underneath it to keep it from sliding around while you’re getting your clean on.
With just a touch of shampoo, it lathers up and depending on what brush you’re cleaning, you can just SEE the crap coming out of it. I’ll be honest, little bit gross. Most of my brushes come out brand new, but I haven’t been able to get my foundation brush quite back to it’s original state, but I have hope, with some love and care and maybe a wear less, wash more approach, we’ll get there one day.
