Every time I write one of these posts I have to go back and remember what number I’m on. Ugh.
So last weekend I was a lucky girl, having birthday number 4 because everyone needs a full on birthday month for their 21st.
After getting my 50mm upgrade for my birthday I decided I REALLY wanted to have a go at some night time photography, which of course meant SPARKLERS!
It was cold and dark but I think with a bit of practice we got a few good shots. (I say we, Joe probably burned himself about 6 times being my sparkler holder.) Something I also wanted to try was long exposure photography, but with my flash gun. It’s something I see all the time in club photos but I wanted to be nosy and just learn how to do it because I just wanna learn ALL the photography.
After a long and smoky night of burning old notebooks filled with all my thoughts from when I was in counselling and running around with sparklers, we headed home.
The next day we were kicked out of Joe’s house by 10:30am since they had someone coming to look at the house. I think Joe’s mum thinks his presence is off-putting to potential buyers. I don’t blame her to be honest. So on a Saturday morning there’s only one thing to do. Nan’s breakfast. Seriously, my nan cooks the best Saturday morning going. We got round there and my mum was already there tucking into a fry up. The age old family tradition. It’s great visiting my grandparents, mainly because it’s hilarious. They’re just so out of touch with a lot of stuff. My nan spent about 45 minutes trying to convince me, who has never smoked ever, my mum, who quit smoking a year ago, and Joe, who still smokes, that smoking just isn’t bad for you. Are you sure, Nan? Are you sure?
After we filled our faces, we spend our day doing the single most important thing after a birthday. Birthday shopping. Ooh and shop I did. My first port of call was Game, since I’ve only actually bought one game for my PS4, while Joe has five. Definitely needed to catch up a bit. So, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 remaster and Tomb Raider now sit happily in my collection. The next stop was OBVIOUSLY Urban Decay because I have a major problem, which you can read about here. (I might have gone slightly overboard.) I also had a quick stop in Jessops, just to have a peek and found something I never thought I’d find. A blogger photography kit. I never thought I’d see anything like this so I immediately had to have it. I haven’t had the chance to open it up yet, but I am SO excited to.
So after blowing all my money, it was time to head home and get myself ready for Birthday Dinner #4 with Amber and James. We went to TGI Fridays while I carried my big “21!” balloon that Amber made me walk around with, which immediately made me nervous. TGI Fridays is a place that loves singing at you on your birthday. And they did. Oh my god I think I died inside. Obviously, because I was so mortified, it made James and Amber love it even more. But it’s fine. I got my own back on Amber (you’re welcome by the way Ambs).
The rest of the week was pretty slow, even though for me, it was only technically three days long, since yesterday, Mother and I drove off to Cornwall for the weekend. As I type this I’m wrapped up in our little B&B, listening to the Cornish rain (yay) and feeling ever so cosy. If you wanna keep up to date with all my Cornwall adventures, you can have a peek at my Instagram before my posts go up in the next few weeks.
So that’s it for my week, and somehow, already the end of this month. Which means no more birthday month for me. What a travesty…
