This month’s box was definitely an interesting one, quite a few bits that I wouldn’t usually think of using. What an adventure.
Ruby Blush in Coral
Blush is something I can’t actually remember the last time I wore. UNTIL NOW. Admittedly I was a skeptic, coral is such a bright colour, and without the lightest of hands I could just see myself becoming that scary looking clown girl. It definitely took a little bit of practice in my first go, my first cheek ended up being MUCH pinker than the second, but after a little while I learned to love it. After such a long time of being only contoured and highlighted, there was suddenly a lil bit of warmth and I just looked a bit less harsh. Who knows, maybe I really can pull it off.
Dr Pawpaw Multipurpose Balm
This one was a bit of a confusing one, and slightly hard work. After taking the little metal lid off, I tried to squeeze some out, but I thought that maybe the seal hadn’t broken because nothing came out. Oh no, it’s just so thick that it takes actual hard work for me to get out. This could also be because I’m incredibly weak, but I feel like I should still be able to get some balm out without actually putting work in. Another problem I faced with this is – okay, weird fear admission time – I’m scared of Vaseline, and on the lips, and in fact ANYWHERE, it has a very similar texture. Ewwwwwww.
Claudalie Moisturising Sorbet
Okay, so when beauty products are named after food, what does it MEAN? I’ve had body souffles, butters and now SORBETS? IS IT FROZEN? I don’t know if it has something to do with the texture, but it really is very nice. It’s got more of a dry consistency than a typical face cream, which means it doesn’t leave me feeling stick or greasy, which I LOVE. I’m not sure how heavily moisturising it really is, but it’s just perfectly light and leaves my skin feeling super soft.
Andmetics Wax Strips
Something else I was HIGHLY skeptical about. I am by no means an eyebrow professional and tend to stick to plucking my own brows because it’s pretty damn accurate, or leaving it to a real professional to wax or thread. So home-waxing strips were a lil bit scary. But, considering you get a few strips in the box, I thought I’d give it a go, since they could be super handy on holiday. Grand total of hairs removed = 0. Fantastic. I tried the actual eyebrow strips to no avail, and also the smaller, multi-use strips between my brows to clean up any strays. Nope. Nada. Not one hair on any of the strips as those little hairs were still smugly attached to my face. Get in the bin.
Scrub Love Cucumber and Bamboo Body Scrub
Well this was DISGUSTING. I’d seen someone else make a comment about the smell of this, so I was already worried, but SWEET BABY JESUS. It’s kinda just like someone left some already gone-off milk down the sink for a few days in some very very hot weather. And I had to rub that all over me?? Regardless, I powered through and rubbed the gross black stuff on my face, neck, shoulders and chest. As I rubbed it in, I noticed my actual skin was starting to turn grey. Oh good, I’m gonna have a grey face too. The actual scrub itself was good, it was super course and gritty, definitely a good scrub for the body, it was just getting it off that was the absolute pain in the backside. After washing it all off my face, I scraped my nail down my cheek and noticed black residue was sat underneath my nail. Wonderful. Overall this product was AWFUL OH MY GOD.
This month was a bit experimental and to be honest, it didn’t really pay off. Although I do love a good blush now.
